Ascending from Chicago, FROM THOSE ASHES formed in January of 2018. They quickly found their own sound, sticking out from other bands in the Chicago scene, playing a style of melody driven metal combining introspective lyrics with progressive structures, thrashy riffs, crushing breakdowns and blast beats, blistering solos, catchy grooves, harsh screams, and emotional cleans.
The band debuted to the public in March of 2018, with the release of their demo “DAWN TO DUSK”, beginning an artistic concept continued with their debut EP “DUSK DESCENDING” in October 2018, and concluding with their second EP “DAWN ASCENDING” in September 2019. The band released their third EP “LAMENTATIONS” in February of 2021, and their fourth EP “CONTAGION” in April of 2022. Most recently, the Dusk and Dawn concept was revisited with “DUSK DESCENDING//DAWN ASCENDING”, a compiled rerecorded version of the first two EPs, released in June of 2023. All of which were self-released, featuring production and artwork from the band members themselves. The band is currently working on their first full length album.
In just a few years, the band has played a plethora of shows; headlining local shows and opening for national acts of various genres such as Soulfly, Impending Doom, Convictions, Gost, The Native Howl, The Anchor, and Incite.
