40 Below Summer have returned with “Darkside”, their second new single in over a decade. The track arrives alongside a self-shot, emotionally intense music video and serves as a follow-up to their comeback single “King Ghidorah”, both of which will appear on the band’s forthcoming studio album. Full details on that release are still under wraps.
The New Jersey nü-metal outfit are also gearing up for a special 25th anniversary performance at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ on October 11th. That night will feature two separate sets — one from the band’s current lineup, and another with their original roster, offering fans a rare chance to experience both eras of the group live.
The band commented on the new single:
“With ‘Darkside’, 40 Below Summer deliver one of their darkest and most emotionally charged songs to date. Mixing crushing riffs, haunting melodies, and deeply introspective lyrics, the track dives into themes of inner turmoil, mistrust, and the battle against one’s own demons.
The chorus — ‘So say hello from the darkside, this part of you that you cannot hide’ — perfectly captures the song’s raw honesty and intensity.”
