A Perfect Circle appear to be moving closer to their next studio album, following the surprise debut of their new track “Starless.”
The multi-platinum supergroup has been active on the road this year, but new comments from co-vocalist/guitarist Billy Howerdel confirm that additional music is already in progress.
Speaking with 93X, Howerdel suggested the band is actively working toward something larger, while keeping timelines intentionally flexible.
“There’s more [music] underway. And in the spirit of soft deadlines, I’m not gonna give you the date, but we’re working toward something.”
He later clarified that the “something” appears to be a full-length studio album—the follow-up to 2018’s “Eat The Elephant.”
Howerdel noted that while touring commitments are ongoing in Europe and the UK, he hopes to carve out time on the road to continue developing new material.
“…to get real cracking on to the new album, it’s gonna be… I need a couple more of these days to line up over the next tour.”
Meanwhile, vocalist Maynard James Keenan may already be moving ahead on his end of the process. Known for balancing multiple projects, Keenan recently shared an image suggesting a hotel-room recording session, indicating early-stage work on new ideas could already be underway.
If completed, the upcoming release would mark the band’s first studio album in over six years.
