Ex-Oceano Vocalist Adam Warren Claps Back at Founding Guitarist Over Claims He Wasn’t Involved in Writing “District Of Misery”

Deathcore pioneers Oceano officially wrapped up their career earlier this month with a farewell show in their hometown of Chicago, Illinois. Despite the closure, tensions between former members remain unresolved.

During a recent appearance on the Brutality Podcast, vocalist Adam Warren discussed the writing process for the band’s debut hit single, “District Of Misery,” detailing his contributions. Founding guitarist Jeremy Carroll, who helped start the band but was later fired in 2009 due to personality conflicts with other members, publicly disputed Warren’s account.

Carroll commented on the podcast’s social media promotion:

“🧢 Pretty sure he wasn’t even there the day me and Danny wrote district. Along with majority of the album, most was even written before I got him in the band. If you want a real Depths/Oceano story and origin you gotta ask the one who actually wrote and started it lol.”

Warren responded with a message aimed directly at Carroll, though he could not tag him:

“It won’t let me tag jeremy; pls get this to him;
Hey dude! I totally disagree. But it’s time for ME to moved on. I know my truth and I have physical recordings of working on depths on CD and Cassette. so you can enjoy dwelling on that. I hope you watch the interview in full someday. It’s brief but I speak very highly and appreciative of you for getting me into the band. That won’t ever change 🖤”

Warren later shared screenshots on his Instagram stories showing he attempted to reach Carroll to discuss the dispute, but received no response.

He also posted an Instagram Reel on his personal account reiterating that he had reached out, claiming Carroll is “bitter” and asserting that some members of Oceano reportedly did not like him because of his personality and how he treated people. Warren added that he feels he “deserves something” regarding the situation.
