After The Burial have scrapped their previously scheduled Australian and Japanese touring plans for 2026 following the postponement of Northlane’s Australian and New Zealand tour. The band had been slated to appear as an opener alongside Cenobia and Above, Below, but Northlane’s decision to push their run back to May 2027 has forced changes to those plans.
The postponement has ultimately resulted in the cancellation of After The Burial’s planned appearances in Australia and Japan. The band cited logistical complications stemming from the loss of the Australian dates as the reason they can no longer move forward with the scheduled Japanese shows.
There is, however, some encouraging news for fans awaiting the band’s next chapter. After The Burial have confirmed plans to return next year with a new album, their seventh studio effort. Recording sessions for the long-awaited follow-up began this past spring.
The band shared the following statement regarding the canceled shows and their plans moving forward:
Due to the cancellation of the Northlane tour, we regret to announce that we will no longer be performing in Australia or Japan this year. Unfortunately, the loss of the Australian dates has made it logistically impossible for us to move forward with our scheduled shows in Japan.
We were looking forward to returning to both countries and are disappointed that we won’t be able to make it happen this year. We plan to return next year with a new record and look forward to seeing you all then.
Ticket holders should check their emails for further information from the respective ticketing partners.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
While fans in Australia and Japan will have to wait a little longer to see the band live, After The Burial’s latest update points toward a busy 2027, with a new album in the works and the possibility of a return to the stage.
