Malevolence frontman Alex Taylor has revealed that he underwent emergency surgery this week, forcing him to miss the band’s remaining summer tour dates.
Sharing an update with fans on social media, Taylor confirmed the procedure was successful and that he is already being discharged from the hospital. However, doctors have instructed him to rest and recover before returning to the stage.
“Yo everyone,
First of all, I want to say a big thank you to everyone who has checked in/sent a nice message over the last 24 hours. They were all really appreciated!
I ended up having to have an emergency operation yesterday, and the good news is the operation went well and I’m being discharged today.
Unfortunately it does mean that I won’t be able to play the final shows of our summer tour as I’m told I need to rest up and heal.
MALEVOLENCE will still be playing these remaining shows! The lads have kindly agreed to step up and finish this tour without me and we will be enlisting the help of some friends to make sure these shows are as sick as they can possibly be! As always the crowd is an integral part of any Malevolence performance so I’m counting on you lot to go down and set it the fuck off!
I’ll be back on my feet in no time, love to you all.”
Despite Taylor’s absence, Malevolence will move forward with the final three dates of its European summer run with the assistance of guest performers.
The remaining dates include:
- June 26 – Copenhagen, Denmark – Copenhell
- June 28 – Helsinki, Finland – Tuska Open Air
- July 2 – Ferrara, Italy – Ferrara Summer Festival
