Alex Terrible, frontman of Russian deathcore powerhouse Slaughter To Prevail, has unveiled his own vocal cover of The Cranberries’ iconic 1994 hit “Zombie.”
Originally released as a protest song addressing the violence of the Northern Ireland conflict, “Zombie” has remained one of the most recognizable rock songs of the last three decades. The track has also found new audiences through various reinterpretations over the years, most notably Bad Wolves’ 2018 cover, which went on to achieve triple-platinum certification in 2023.
Rather than following the emotional melodic approach of the original version, Alex Terrible puts his own signature spin on the song. The vocalist largely abandons the haunting clean vocals that defined Dolores O’Riordan’s performance, instead delivering the lyrics through the guttural, aggressive style that has made him one of modern metal’s most recognizable voices.
The result is a far heavier and more extreme interpretation of “Zombie,” transforming the classic alternative rock anthem into something much closer to the crushing sound fans have come to expect from Slaughter To Prevail.
