Alexisonfire continue their celebration of Canadian music with the release of their cover of Rusty’s 1995 single “Misogyny.” The track appears on the band’s upcoming covers EP, “Copies Of Old Masters Volume 1,” set to arrive November 7th through Dine Alone Records.
The new EP finds Alexisonfire paying tribute to Canadian artists who’ve influenced them, reimagining songs from The Tragically Hip, Doughboys, Shallow North Dakota, and Rusty.
Frontman George Pettit shared the nostalgic inspiration behind their latest cover, saying:
“It’s 1996 and you love snowboarding, rock and roll, and sexual puns… flash back to a MuchMusic special called Snow Job ’96 where Rusty played ‘Misogyny’ at the base of a ski hill on live television. YouTube it, and imagine a 16-year-old version of yourself immediately getting dreadlocks the next day.”
“Copies Of Old Masters Volume 1” track listing:
01 – “Neighbourhood Villain” (Doughboys cover)
02 – “Cuz” (Shallow North Dakota cover)
03 – “Fully Completely” (The Tragically Hip cover)
04 – “Misogyny” (Rusty cover)
