Alien Ant Farm have released an official music video for their recently unveiled single “Gaslighter,” while the track has also landed on the soundtrack of the upcoming rhythm game ‘Stage Tour’.
The new visual was directed by former Orgy drummer Bobby Hewitt, who has once again stepped behind the camera for the band.
Vocalist Dryden Mitchell describes “Gaslighter” as a sharp-edged anthem inspired by liars and manipulators, pointing to influences from Audioslave and Rage Against The Machine. The song is expected to appear on Alien Ant Farm’s forthcoming new album.
Mitchell also explained that the track originally began under the title “Code Talker,” inspired by the use of Native American languages by U.S. service members to transmit secure tactical messages during World War I and World War II. The concept eventually evolved into a song about the experience of being manipulated by someone who insists you are imagining or misunderstanding the truth.
“Gaslighter” has now also been confirmed as a playable song in ‘Stage Tour’, the upcoming spiritual successor to the Guitar Hero franchise. The game is scheduled for release December 10.
The track joins several other songs from the Judge & Jury camp featured in the game, including 12 Stones’ “Golden Child,” Judge & Jury and Tyler Connolly of Theory Of A Deadman with “The Urge,” and Jonathan Young and RichaadEB’s “Damage Done.”
Judge & Jury was co-founded by producer Howard Benson and Three Days Grace drummer Neil Sanderson, with the pair frequently handling production duties for the venture’s releases. Alien Ant Farm are currently signed to the label/production outfit.
