Philip Labonte, frontman and founder of All That Remains, is seeing renewed attention paid to his 2024 op‑ed, “The Silent Crisis: Why Society Is Failing Men And Boys,” as newly introduced federal legislation signals growing congressional interest in the pressures facing men and boys in America.
The piece has been followed by Capitol Hill meetings where Labonte joined Reps. Nathanial Moran (TX‑1) and Derrick Van Orden (WI‑3), who have introduced legislation aimed at addressing challenges such as dropping male college enrollment, rising disengagement from work and community, and climbing rates of depression, addiction, and suicide among men. Data from the Pew Research Center and National Institute of Mental Health cited in coverage support his claims, showing men now make up just 44% of college students and continue to face significantly higher suicide rates than women.
“We are watching too many young men drift without direction or support,” Labonte said. “If we don’t take this seriously, we risk losing an entire generation not just of men, but of fathers and leaders.”
Outside of his work with the platinum‑selling All That Remains, whose releases have hit multiple Billboard charts, Labonte is a regular contributor to Timcast IRL, the podcast hosted by Tim Pool, and positions himself as a libertarian vocal on issues affecting men and boys, particularly around gun rights and social policy.
