    Amerakin Overdose Unleash Industrialized Cover of Christina Aguilera’s “Genie In A Bottle”

    Industrialized nü-metal act Amerakin Overdose have debuted a music video for their take on Christina Aguilera’s triple-platinum 1999 hit, “Genie In A Bottle”. The video was directed by Bausik Film Co., while Jonny Santos (Spineshank, Silent Civilian) co-produced the track. This cover is just one of several collaborations Santos has in the works with the band.

    Speaking on his involvement, Santos shared:

    “I’ve known Cody [Perez] for quite some time now, and I’ve always been familiar with AOD since I’ve lived in Portland for 15 years. Their imagery, unapologetic attitude, and work ethic are what drew me in. I believe rock ‘n’ roll is meant to be dangerous, and so do they. These guys are some of the hardest-working musicians I’ve seen in a long time, and that goes a long way with me.

    I’m hoping to help shape them into the best version of themselves and am really enjoying working with them. I think their fans, and new fans to come, will love the end result of our collaboration.”

          Justin Schenker so the auto tune was used intentionally and hard because it was a cover of a pop song and it’s used a lot in pop music. It was just another thing we had never used to the extreme we did and when w removed it, it took away from the vibe of the song.

          Justin Schenker it’s all good. I didn’t take it as disrespect. It’s funny cuz I knew it would throw a lot of people off so right before the single came out, I tried to give a warning to my friends about the auto tune and why we did it, give a heads up about the video being purposely funny and goofy and cheesy because we hadn’t done that. Just so at least our close friends would understand.

          Justin Schenker thanks bro!!! So we just out out a new album “Artificial Infection” last July. Check that out. But we’re already releasing even more new stuff since we started working with Jonny Santos/Spineshank. We’ll have another new song and video out at the end of April. It’s a killer original heavy track.

        Mike Lopez been around since 2010 and going strong. Played several of big festivals, toured, played with some great musicians who have produced us. We’ve had a good run so far and we have many many more years of AOD to go.

        I guess I was just massively shocked and surprised.

      One of the 1st bands to wear masks while performing was The Crazy World of Arthur Brown in like 1967 or something. The lead singer wore face paint & the rest of the band wore simple clear plastic masks. The song is called Fire & it is way better than this for the mask wearing bandwagon bands. 😂

As a former musician & frontman myself I’ve always appreciated artistic creativity when it comes to stage appearance & individuality. I wore corpse paint sometimes & other times I wore David Bowie type shit depending on my mood & the show we we’re booked for etc. Yinz keep doing yinz bud & just because someone doesn’t like it doesn’t mean somebody else won’t or already does.

          Zepp E. Lynn it was before then, Gwar was doing it, and Kiss was doing make up way before then. The 2 bands people remember Including myself from the late 90s were Slipknot and Mushroomhead. When we started doing masks in 2010 no one new was doing it and it wasn’t trendy. Hell, no one was doing nu metal either. It wasn’t cool to do either but we did both during a time it was dead and laughed at. Fast forward several years later, yes there is alot of newer bands doing masks and make up now and doing nu metal or a newer version of it at least. What I’m saying is we were doing it before the latest wave and trend of either and bad have zero plans to stop even when the trend dies again. It’s part of who we are and how we started. You can love it or hate it or ignore it. Loving or hating us helps us. It’s when people ignore us and don’t react that hurts us 🤷🏻‍♂️

          Mikey Gregoire Jonny is the man!! He is super talented not just as a singer but a song writer and producer. It’s crazy watching him work. I’ve learned a ton from him. He’s very laid back and funny and just a cool guy. We worked on another song on Monday and wrapped it up. We’ve got 9 songs with him so far and more to go.

          Cody Perez No. I mean that your band is lacking an identity besides ‘wearing masks’. You got some heavy songs (which are pretty decent btw), some nu-metal and then this pop-rock stuff. Every song sounds different, true, but all lack identity.

          Stephan Barten no. But we do have a consistent sound. It’s always been with synths, electric drums mixed with acoustic drums, clean and screaming vocals. Heavy on the nu metal / industrial sound. No clue how you could say we don’t have an identity. We have 3 albums out working on the 4th. If you listen from the first album to the last one we put out last year it’s been an evolved sound. It’s gotten better in every aspect but we’ve stayed true to how we originally started which are those characteristics mentioned about. We fine tune what we like about the previous work and double down on it and add more elements. If a band stays the same people bitch. If a band evolves and expands people bitch. We know we’re not for everyone but we can be for anyone because we do blend many influences.
