Amorphis have officially launched their brand new single “Bones” today, July 11th, alongside a striking new music video directed by Patric Ullaeus (Arch Enemy, The Haunted). The track serves as another preview of the Finnish progressive metal band’s forthcoming fifteenth studio album, Borderland, which is scheduled to arrive on September 26th via Reigning Phoenix Music.
Speaking on the origins of “Bones”, the band’s keyboardist Santeri Kallio offered:
“As a starting point, I wanted to prove that even a keyboard player can create an Amorphis song which is based on a heavy riff, and to everyone’s surprise, ‘Bones’ turned out to be the heaviest ‘Borderland’ song.”
Borderland looks to further expand on Amorphis’ legacy of blending melodic death metal with progressive and folk influences, and “Bones” delivers one of their heaviest offerings in recent memory.
