Amorphis bassist and vocalist Olli-Pekka Laine will step away from the Finnish progressive metal outfit’s touring lineup for the remainder of 2026.
The musician cited personal reasons for the temporary hiatus, with Pyry Hanski of …And Oceans and Before The Dawn stepping in to handle bass duties during the upcoming shows. Laine is expected to return to the band’s live lineup early next year.
Laine shared the following update regarding his absence:
“Due to personal reasons, I will be stepping aside from touring duties for the remainder of the year. The low end remains in the best possible hands, however. Our great friend and phenomenal bassist Pyry Hanski (@pyrde) will step in to handle bass duties for the upcoming dates. Please give him a warm welcome and make sure to catch the shows!
I will rejoin the ranks early next year. Thank you all for your continuous support and understanding.”
Hanski also addressed the opportunity to join Amorphis on the road:
“It’s a true honor to help out and jump in for the upcoming shows. Huge thanks to Oppu and the guys for trusting me with this. Needless to say, I’m beyond excited and can’t wait to see you all on the road!”
Amorphis will first head to Australia for a run with The Eternal before returning to North America in November for a tour with Insomnium and Hinayana.
