British metalcore outfit Architects have reached a new milestone in the United States, with the band officially earning their first RIAA Gold single.
The honor was awarded to “Animals” on September 24, marking the first time a song from the group’s catalog has reached Gold status in the U.S. The track was originally released in October 2020 as the lead single from Architects’ ninth studio album, ‘For Those That Wish To Exist’.
In the United States, an RIAA Gold certification represents 500,000 units, while a Platinum award is reached at 1 million units. Those totals now account for more than traditional physical and digital sales, incorporating streaming activity into the certification process.
For individual tracks, 10 permanent digital downloads count as one unit, while 150 on-demand audio or video streams of a song contribute toward the track-equivalent total. The latest certification reflects the continued reach of “Animals” several years after its original release.
The achievement adds another major milestone to the U.S. career of Architects, whose catalog has continued to rack up significant streaming numbers since “Animals” first arrived.
