PNW sludge metal collective Armed For Apocalypse have unveiled a video for their latest single “Fists Like Feathers”, offering the first preview of their upcoming full-length ‘The Earth Is Breathing Beneath Me’. The album is scheduled to arrive April 24 via Church Road Records.
The record was captured with Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou overseeing production duties at God City Studios, continuing the band’s collaboration with one of heavy music’s most respected sonic architects. Speaking on the tone and themes behind the release, the group shared:
“This album is bleak. It’s got dissonance and aggression and every song carries a sense of melancholy and density beneath the surface. But there are also moments of meditation, and even signs of optimism woven in that make it feel like a true reflection of who we are as people.”
Additional background on the album title emphasized the philosophical thread running through the material:
”The Earth Is Breathing Beneath Me‘ isn’t a metaphor. It’s a realisation that the ground beneath our feet is alive, and we’re all just passengers on its pulse. It’s that hum of dread and wonder that defines Armed For Apocalypse’s fourth full-length album: a towering, grooved-out, post-metal monolith carved from grief, power, and purpose.’
