    ASKING ALEXANDRIA Fire Back with “It’s Never F*cking Good Enough” Post Amid Fan Criticism

    Asking Alexandria have come under fire following their recent appearance at Warped Tour DC, where fans criticized Danny Worsnop‘s vocal performance as lackluster and disengaged.

    In what appears to be a sarcastic nod to the backlash, the band posted a live video from their Warped Tour Long Beach set with an on-screen caption that reads:

    “it’s never fucking good enough.”

    Not only does the phrase echo the sentiment behind the criticism, it’s also a direct lyric from their 2023 track “Things Could Be Different.” The layered messaging, however, may not have landed as intended — comments continue to roll in, with some fans even suggesting Worsnop should be replaced.

    Whether the clip was meant as a clever self-aware nod or a defiant clapback, the tension between the band and sections of their fanbase seems far from settled.

          AJ Groves can confirm, saw AA live at Fort Rock with Dennis performing and it sucked. He wasn’t good. He didn’t compare to the old Danny. Danny now tho is washed for sure.

I never saw Dennis, I just know from several articles, and a few recorded videos, that he never performed screams live, he always used backingtracks. I’m thankful to have seen AA when touring for Reckless and Relentless, I barely heard of them back then and they opened me up to scream vocals in general. Just disappointing where they went

Ben was the creative juice that led the band and was the one with all of the ideas. He is Asking Alexandria. Danny hates everything besides country so I truly doubt any new material will come out especially with a front man who doesn’t care.

      Sad. Dude has said time from time. Hes just not into screaming. Literally had a serious vocal issue 2012. Comes out with rock albums that have reached millions.. and people are still whining that they dont play old songs. But hey lets rewind back to 2012 when everyone said they were so “generic” when they were heavier. Let bands do what they want. Its time to put Stand Up and Scream to rest.

          Gavin Warner he didn’t even sound good live before all that, he was usually too drunk on stage to even form a coherent sentence. It was the same every time they were at a show I’ve been too. It was so bad people would start leaving a couple songs into their set if they were the last band to play.

Used to love AA. Massive fan. Hell even the album with moving on was good. After that yeaa no sorry.

      I’m with Denis on this actually. Post the royalty pay out for the last decade on his album The Black pretty much the last heavy album asking Alexandria is capable of writing no thanks to Danny. If they would have just paid what he was worth it probably would still be a heavy band. To not pay him a single penny but not take the music down is pretty suspicious it raises a ton of red flags it’s not like half-assed it it’s a great album way better than anything Danny has put out lately not sorry.

        Tyler RG The funny part is, the band don’t do the payouts it’s the label, now think logically he was in make me famous which the label brought to the US and put on a tour before he fucked it up, then joined AA, fucked it up but it still cost money to get him to the US and he ghosted them. It isn’t that he doesn’t get royalties, the kid owes money out to people but won’t speak about it publicly because he’s a dweeb. He even formed another band which got signed by the same label, recorded 3 songs and then bailed on them forgot name of them. Now has a new band which I guarantee in a year or so he won’t be part of and will shit talk on them too. 🤣🫠

        Edit: I remembered the other bands name.
        Down & Dirty which got signed and he fucked it by vanishing all the time. So yeah Denis isn’t.a very nice person overall. He fucked about and now he is finding out.

          Tyler RG The actual memebers of Asking Alexandria definitely got paid out for The Black. It’s not about just recording an album, releasing it and selling, you have to perform it on tour. Denis doesn’t recieve royalties because he didn’t fulfill his contractual obligations to get paid, like going out on tour and performing the album for at least 2 years. The label is completely justified to not pay him if he broke his contract. It wasn’t the other member’s fault the album wasn’t being performed like it should’ve been. They did not break their contract, so they get paid. Denis did break his contract, so he does not get paid. What aren’t you understanding??

      Kinda disappointing that people aren’t supportive of Asking Alexandria in this situation. Why care if he can’t perform as well anymore? People get older, get voice damage and so on and aren’t as good as when they’re younger. Dosnt mean Danny should quit like people are saying. Plenty of bands have singers that can’t perform as well anymore, but people aren’t saying those bands should quit. If you don’t like it, then don’t go to the shows. They can still do that they want and the fans can still enjoy the show for what it is.

          Matthew Mankin that’s a really bummer thing to say though? imagine if your favorite, or even just a band u really liked when you were younger (in my case, the band that got me into heavy metal) is doing a live performance, would you not be super excited to go see them and want to have some banger energy? now imagine going to see them just for the lead to not actually sing anything, be dressed in head to toe on clothing that makes it where you can’t even tell its them, and just casually walk around on stage occasionally throwing a hand up as “engagement”

          John Marshall I wouldn’t care personally as long as I got to see them (assuming i cared about seeing them). Im just not the type of person who cares about how good the performace is. Ive seen bands with people so drunk they can barley perform for example and i dont mind it. And if someone told me not to go, then I’d decide for my self whether or not I go. It’s not a big deal. I love music more than you’re average person, I make music, and love live shows. But I just dont think a band owes me anything. They can do what they want and I don’t have to pay for it if I don’t like it.

It’s THEIR creative expression and their performance you’re paying to see so they can perform however they want. It’s their brand and they can do what they want with their own brand/company.         Matthew Mankin I think they’re being mean spirited about it, but I do agree that Danny should step down and let someone else take over. Asking Alexandria hasn’t been on their game in over a decade, when they dropped the Black album people were hyped because it was a return to form. They built a fan base and basically built metalcore and then went rock with bits of screaming that nobody liked and then dropped the Black and then went straight into just rock n roll while degrading and trashing the fans who built them. I completely understand the reason for everything, it’s just simply because Danny can’t do it anymore and that’s completely okay. But to sell tickets to a show that you aren’t performing is kinda false advertising in a way. I think he needs to step down and bring in someone who can perform and actually wants to be there.

        Matthew Mankin Fans have been very negative towards them ever sense they changed their style and it’s really sad. I support them and I would love for them to say fuck it and only focus on their newer stuff and move on from the old songs. They’ve been saying for years that’s what they want to do but never fully go for it. And if they need to keep the final episode in the set for whatever reason maybe they should get a guitar player who can do the screams or just explain why they use the backing track for that song.

        Matthew Mankin I did go see them a couple months ago on their tour with FATN. Last time I saw them was back on Mayhem in 2012 and i didn’t really know them yet. The show was alright but that being said, I think bands need to realize that they can’t completely ignore the songs that got them to that point. You wanna play the newer stuff not as many people like, go ahead but a good majority of your fans are there to see the stuff they know and love. To completely ignore all of that and just do one good song from the old days (Final Episode) is kind of a slap in the face. Not to mention in the show I saw, he wore a hoodie and hat the entire time like he didn’t want anyone to see him (he didn’t have it on for the one song he did with Lynn Royale during their set). I will say his voice didn’t sound bad at that show. It still sounded like Danny, I was more disappointed by their setlist selection. I understand doing that style hurts your voice and getting older changes your voice too but if thats the case, hire a screamer, and Danny sings the clean parts. I don’t know if people would care as much. But then his attitude about it all is just kind of like acustatory like he’s mad at the fans for being mad that they’re not putting out a product worth paying for. Its a lot of finger pointing and not a lot of resolution.

        Matthew Mankin because As a musician/artist I have responsibility and I need to show respect for my audience who spend money to see my performance. They have expectations, that I need to achive with a quality performance. The top of that Danny made fun of his bandmates too with this carless attitude. He is As old As I. There is no excuse for his stage presence. If I did shows, like this, I rather done as musician…. I saw then with Dennis. It’s a fact that Dennis is a problematic person, but As a singer, he destroyed Danny in live performance.

Worsnop might be an example of one of these dudes on a very bad run, but Oli Sykes lip syncs most of his choruses on BMTH gigs, and Ronald Ratpiss relies on backings and backup members to save his ass live. The lazy fucks are to blame but so are the fans for tolerating mediocrity to this degree.

      I get that he no longer can scream those parts but maybe it’s time to do reimagined versions of those songs or get a dual vocalist to fill in on the screams.

      Fans wouldn’t be causing backlash if they just reinvented the songs to his current capabilities and because his style has changed maybe change the entire style of the song from the screamo to a more rock n roll style. Gotta think Shikari changed up songs over time to keep it fresh for them and fans.

      Live performances shouldn’t be mimed or when he feels like picking up a mic to his mouth sing parts when it suits him. Quickest way to not get booked and not get attendance to shows.
