ATREYU Release Newly Re-Recorded Version Of “Bleeding Mascara” For 20th Anniversary Edition Of ‘The Curse’

Atreyu have released a newly re-recorded version of their track “Bleeding Mascara”, which originally appeared on their gold-certified 2004 album The Curse. This updated version arrives ahead of the record’s upcoming 20th anniversary vinyl reissue, set for release on August 1st.

The California metalcore veterans returned to the studio to re-record the entire album from the ground up with their current lineup. The newly updated recording now features bassist Marc “Porter” McKnight handling the screams, a role previously held by ex-vocalist Alex Varkatzas on the original release.

Upon announcing the re-recorded edition earlier this month, the band stated:

“Rebuilt with reverence — not to rewrite, but to reclaim. This is the album that shaped everything, re-recorded from the ground up with 20 years of perspective and precision. It’s heavier. It’s sharper. It’s The Curse, fully realized.”

Both versions of “Bleeding Mascara” — the newly re-recorded track and the original featuring Alex Varkatzas — can be heard below.

In celebration of this milestone, Atreyu will be hitting the road this fall for a run of 20th anniversary tour dates. Select dates will feature Eighteen Visions performing Obsession, He Is Legend performing I Am Hollywood, Unearth performing The Oncoming Storm, and Norma Jean celebrating O’ God, The Aftermath.
