ATREYU Drop 20th Anniversary Re-Recording of ‘The Curse’

Atreyu have officially released their 20th anniversary re-recording of The Curse to digital platforms. The updated version of the band’s gold-certified 2004 breakthrough arrives just weeks after the announcement of a special vinyl pressing.

Now fronted by their current lineup, the re-recorded The Curse features bassist/vocalist Marc “Porter” McKnight handling the screaming vocals originally performed by founding member Alex Varkatzas. Production and mixing duties were handled by Kellen McGregor of Memphis May Fire, bringing a modern edge to the classic melodic metalcore record.

In a joint statement, the band explained the intent behind the project:

“Rebuilt with reverence — not to rewrite, but to reclaim. This is the album that shaped everything, re-recorded from the ground up with 20 years of perspective and precision. It’s heavier. It’s sharper. It’s The Curse, fully realized.”

To celebrate the milestone, Atreyu will spend the fall on an extensive anniversary tour, with support from a rotating lineup of special guests including Eighteen Visions, He Is Legend, Unearth, Norma Jean, and Zero 9:36. Select acts will also be performing classic albums in full, making this one of the year’s most stacked metalcore tours.
