Ray Burton, the father of late Metallica bassist Cliff Burton, has passed away according to his daughter Connie. She took to social media today, January 19, 2020, that Ray had passed away on January 15th. Metallica included Ray in various Cliff and other Metallica-related activities over the years, including their Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction, shows, and much more. Cliff’s share of royalties from the band’s royalties would later go to Ray and his family after his son’s passing. Killswitch Engage vocalist Jesse Leach is teasing some new material from his punk side project, The Weapon. The band were in the studio back in the fall tracking out what will be the band’s first official release. Leach is joined by guitarist Chris Drapeau, bassist Josh Mihlek and drummer Andy Mass.
