Brazilian nü-metalcore outfit AXTY have announced their fourth studio album, ‘The Pain Made Me Who I Am’, set for release August 21st via Napalm Records — marking their first outing with the label.
Alongside the announcement, the band have shared a new music video for “end this”, directed by vocalist Felipe Hervoso. The track arrives as one of the most intense and emotionally heavy moments on the record, serving as its closing statement.
Detailing the song’s meaning, the band explained:
“One of the most pessimistic moments on the record, this track serves as a closing statement that encapsulates the album’s overarching emotional arc. ‘end this’ portrays a character shaped by accumulated trauma, depression, and intrusive, self-destructive thoughts.”
“Positioned as the final track, the song leans into a sense of exhaustion and finality… Musically, it stands out as one of the heaviest and most sonically challenging pieces on the album, featuring its most dissonant chorus to date.”
“This deliberate stylistic contrast mirrors a state of dissociation… culminating in a drifting, almost delirious reflection captured in the line: ‘Why try so long here if all we touch will rot and sear.’”
Zooming out, AXTY say the album itself is rooted in exploring darker emotional states — but with a larger message centered around growth through adversity:
“‘The Pain Made Me Who I Am’ revolves around human emotions, particularly the darker, more difficult ones… we wanted to explore how negative experiences… become the very foundation of who we are.”
