Behemoth has officially revealed the title for their upcoming thirteenth studio album, The Shit Ov God. The announcement comes after a series of teases for the album’s title track, including a notable reveal on Christmas Day. This highly anticipated new record from the Polish blackened death metal giants will be released on May 9th through Nuclear Blast Records.
Accompanying the announcement is a newly released official music video for the title track, which features a guest appearance from Androniki Skoula (ex-Chaostar, etc.). The video, directed by Dariusz Szermanowicz, showcases the band’s signature intense visuals.
Vocalist/guitarist Nergal spoke on the provocative title, stating:
“We chose this provocative title deliberately, rejecting subtlety in favor of a direct and polarizing statement. It’s a defiant plunge into the depths, daring to seek the absolute even in the gutter.”
Nergal also elaborated on his perspective regarding Behemoth‘s journey, emphasizing the importance of their music and art:
“I’ve reached a point in Behemoth‘s journey and my own creativity where words and statements mean less and less. The true essence of who we are and what we stand for lies in our music, our art, our visuals, our sounds, our performances, and the ways we connect with you. I deeply believe Behemoth represents transcendent, timeless art.”
Reflecting on the significance of the album, he continued:
“The number thirteen—so magical and significant. If this were to be our final album, I could say I die a proud man. Without a shadow of a doubt, this is the most refined, purest representation of Behemoth. No filler, no excess — just the very best we have to offer, handed to you.”
“Hail Satan.”
The album’s recording sessions were helmed by Jens Bogren (known for his work with Amon Amarth, Opeth) at Fascination Street Studios.
