Behemoth have given their newly released “I, Scvlptor” project the full visual treatment with a new music video for their cover of Venom’s “In League With Satan.” The rendition features a guest appearance from Dimmu Borgir vocalist Shagrath.
The video was directed by Dariusz Szermanowicz, marking another visual offering from the Polish blackened death metal outfit in support of “I, Scvlptor.”
While “I, Scvlptor” isn’t a traditional full-length album, Behemoth have rolled it out with the scope and presentation of a major release. The project is anchored by the title track, alongside the band’s take on the classic Venom cut.
Behemoth vocalist/guitarist Nergal previously offered some insight into the title track and its place within the band’s evolution:
“‘I, Scvlptor’ is a new Behemoth song rooted in the tradition of monumental tracks like ‘O Father O Satan O Sun!’, ‘Lucifer’ or ‘Nieboga Czarny Xiadz’, while at the same time opening a new chapter. It carries that epic weight but also takes an unexpected turn that makes it feel fresh and different from the previous pieces. Lyrically, it is a metaphor for the endless process of shaping oneself – an uneven struggle with matter and personal limitations.
The paradox is that from the moment we are born we are already destined to die, so perhaps it is not about victory itself, but about the constant act of sculpting who we are.”
The addition of Shagrath gives the cover an extra black metal connection, bringing together two of the genre’s prominent modern acts for a rendition of Venom‘s 1981 classic.
