Industrial metal artist Nathan James is asking the public for assistance in locating his father, Bill McGinley, who was reported missing after failing to return home from a bicycle ride in Colorado.
According to a statement shared by James, McGinley, 72, of Louisville, Colorado, left for what was described as a routine bike ride on the morning of July 29th and has not been seen since.
Authorities have reportedly launched an on-foot search and investigation as efforts continue to locate him.
James shared details about his father’s last known whereabouts, including what he was wearing and the route he may have taken.
He stated:
“My Dad, Bill McGinley, 72 years old, never returned from a normal bike ride this morning in Louisville Colorado. The cops have started an on-foot search & investigation.”
According to James, McGinley was riding a white Specialized gravel bike and was last seen wearing a white helmet, white shoes, black tights, and a blue cycling jersey.
James said his father was believed to be riding along the 36th bike path, near Davidson Mesa and Harper Lake, before potentially returning toward his home near Waneka Lake in Lafayette.
“If you saw him this morning or have any other information, please contact me & Louisville police. He is my best friend. I talk to him on the phone 2-3 times a day, ever since I’ve had a phone.”
James also made an emotional appeal to those in the area who may be able to assist with search efforts.
“Please if you have the ability to look and are in the area, please help me find my dad. He means the world to me.”
McGinley, a former University of Colorado professor of Literacy Studies, has been described by family members as a white male, approximately six feet tall and 155 pounds.

Search efforts remain ongoing as family, friends, and local authorities continue working to locate him safely.
