After a nearly decade-long hiatus, Black Tide have reunited, making their return with a cover of Thin Lizzy’s classic 1976 single “The Boys Are Back In Town.” A music video for the track has just been released online.
Vocalist and guitarist Gabriel Garcia spoke on the reunion and the band’s renewed focus:
“‘Back to the roots’ means going back to where Black Tide truly began. It started with just me n my brother Raul writing songs as kids… We built this music dream together and we’re picking it back up.
This chapter is about honoring that core and letting the music lead again. No pressure, no expectations — just creation.
We’re also absolutely open to bringing in the other OG members and have been in talks with them! Let’s build this thing back up together & see where we can take it. Original music, live shows, and more all in the works! LOOK OUT
–Gabe”
Black Tide originally emerged as a teenage metal band, landing a deal with Interscope Records and securing a spot on the Ozzfest tour. Their youth presented unique challenges at the time, particularly in markets where the festival’s Jägermeister sponsorship restricted underage performers.
With this new chapter, the band is poised to honor their early beginnings while looking ahead to original music and live performances.
