New details have surfaced surrounding the March 29th, 2026 incident in Silver Spring, MD, involving former Turnstile guitarist Brady Ebert and William Yates, father of Turnstile vocalist Brendan Yates. According to the police report, 33-year-old Ebert arrived at William’s home in his car, honking and yelling obscenities at William’s daughter, her husband, and their children.
Surveillance footage obtained by police from a neighbor shows Ebert behaving aggressively from his vehicle toward the family. William reportedly came down the driveway to intervene, prompting Ebert to swerve toward him. William stepped back to avoid being struck, then threw a rock at Ebert’s Buick LeSabre, hitting the rear door. In response, Ebert reversed and accelerated toward William, striking him. The report notes the dangerous proximity to William’s daughter and her 3-year-old son. Local outlets previously reported that Ebert returned to the scene while William awaited medical attention, telling him he “deserved it.”
The report also details that Ebert later texted his father asking for $200 for a bus ticket for a friend. According to the Yates family, this was the latest in a string of confrontations, including incidents on March 13th and days later, when Ebert allegedly shouted obscenities, swerved at William, and made obscene gestures.
Turnstile and Ebert parted ways in August 2022 amid a reportedly contentious split. The band, including Brendan Yates, drummer Daniel Fang, and bassist Franz Lyon, attempted temporary peace orders against Ebert, which were unsuccessful. While tensions had largely stayed private, Ebert publicly criticized his former bandmates earlier this year, allegedly making disparaging comments about their live performances and sharing purported private conversations.
In February, Ebert was dismissed from his new band, The S.E.T., prior to their debut release. The band stated at the time:
“Brady is no longer a member of THE S.E.T. We will not stand by his ridiculous comments and behavior toward the members of our band and our community. We will continue to put on for Baltimore hardcore and thank everyone for their support.”
Following his firing, Ebert condemned his ex-bandmates and discouraged support for the group, before announcing a new project, Experience.
Ebert now faces charges of attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault for the March 29th attack and remains in custody, denied bond. Reporting from The Baltimore Banner notes William suffered a broken leg with exposed bone and underwent surgery. The Banner also details Ebert’s 2024 Baltimore home foreclosure, which sold for $175,000, and his claims of financial strain related to unpaid royalties from Turnstile.
At his bond hearing earlier this week, Ebert reportedly urged the judge to review the surveillance footage, claiming it would contradict police reports and referring to William as a “maniac” for throwing a rock. Assistant State’s Attorney Dominic Plantamura countered that the footage showed a “clearly targeted attack.” Court records also indicate Ebert was living with his father at the time.
Turnstile broke their silence on April 2nd, addressing the incident:
“Turnstile cut ties with Brady Ebert in 2022 in response to a consistent pattern of harmful behavior affecting himself, the band, and the community… This past week, that violence led to a physical attack when Brady went to the house of Brendan’s parents and used his vehicle to run over Brendan’s father, causing severe physical trauma. We are grateful that Mr. Yates survived, has successfully undergone surgery, and we’re hoping for the best possible outcome in his recovery. We have no language left for Brady. Please respect our privacy at this time.”
The police report identified Ebert as a “neighbor,” noting that both he and the Yates family lived on the same street.
