After years of anticipation from fans, Breaking Benjamin have confirmed that their next studio album is officially complete.
Speaking with Moshpit Passion at Germany’s Rock am Ring festival, guitarists Jasen Rauch and Keith Wallen shared an encouraging update on the band’s first full-length release since 2018’s Ember.
According to Rauch, the record is completely finished, with the band now preparing for the next phase of the rollout.
“Well, the album’s done. There is [a title for it]. We are so close for everything coming out. We have some big announcements coming. What we can say, I guess, is that we’ve been recording pretty much full time four years now post-pandemic. Some of these songs we re-recorded three different times. We’ve had a lineup change. There was some personal stuff going on, individually, families, things in the band… And so to kind of be on the back end of it now, I think it’s just something that we’re all really proud of.”
Wallen echoed that excitement, acknowledging the growing impatience among the band’s fanbase.
“We’re done. It’s sinking in, ’cause we see all the comments, we see all the fans [saying], just, like, ‘When’s the new album coming out?’ Trust me, we are so ready to put it out. We are so excited.”
Rauch went on to reveal that the album was only recently completed, explaining that the final vocal recording took place just weeks ago while the band was on the road.
“We had one more line to record vocals on. We had our stuff with us, so we’re like, ‘Do you mind if we punch this real quick?’ And so we did. We recorded that line, and that was the last one for the record. We just got masters back. We’re doing some different artwork tweaks. All that stuff’s happening right now.”
While an exact release date has yet to be announced, Rauch indicated that fans can expect more details sometime this summer.
The update arrives shortly after Breaking Benjamin released their latest single, “Something Wicked.” The track leans into the darker side of the band’s sound, balancing atmospheric melodies with crushing instrumentation and the emotional intensity that has long defined the group’s catalog.
Frontman Benjamin Burnley previously described the song as an effort to push beyond the band’s established comfort zone.
“‘Something Wicked’ is a quick look into our influences both musically and thematically. We challenged ourselves especially hard on this record and on this song. We pushed every boundary we’ve previously had as far as it will go, then pushed a little more. ‘Something Wicked’ was the result.”
With the album now complete and major announcements on the horizon, it appears Breaking Benjamin are finally preparing to close the chapter on one of the longest gaps between studio albums in the band’s career.
