One of Southern California’s most recognizable heavy music venues is preparing to close its doors.
Brick By Brick, the longtime San Diego club operated by former As I Lay Dying drummer Jordan Mancino and co-owner Shannon, has announced it will vacate its Bay Park location later this month after 12 years under their current ownership.
The independent venue revealed that its final concerts at 1130 Buenos Avenue will take place on August 12th and 13th. In a statement shared on social media, the owners described the closure as the end of the venue’s chapter at its current location, while leaving open the possibility that Brick By Brick could return elsewhere in the future.
No new location has been announced, and the venue has not publicly detailed the reason behind the move. According to SanDiegoVille, the property may have been sold and could potentially face redevelopment, though those details have not been confirmed.
Originally established in 1995, Brick By Brick was revived under its current operators in 2014 and went on to become one of San Diego’s most important destinations for metal, hardcore, punk, industrial, hard rock, and underground touring acts. The roughly 400-capacity venue helped bridge the gap between smaller local clubs and larger concert halls, providing a stage for both regional artists and international acts.
The venue’s final shows will include The Cybertronic Spree on August 12th, followed by a closing night on August 13th featuring The Undertaking, Blackcast, Helsott, Cascade Effect, and an all-star jam celebrating the venue’s history.

After 12 incredible years, our chapter on Buenos Ave is coming to an end.
There aren’t enough words to express what this place and this community have meant to us. Thank you to every artist, fan, promoter, teammate, neighbor, and friend who helped make Brick San Diego’s home for heavy music.
We hope you’ll join us this month for our final shows on Buenos, including @cybertronicband on August 12, followed by one last night with the local metal community on August 13 featuring @theundertakingrocks, @blackcastmusic, @helsott, @cascade_effect_band, and an all-star jam celebrating some of Brick’s most memorable moments.
