BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE Break Silence On Tour’s Abrupt End, TRIVIUM Respond

What was once expected to be a global celebration of two cornerstone metal albums has come to an unexpected halt. The co-headlining run between Bullet For My Valentine and Trivium, billed as ‘The Poisoned Ascendancy Tour’, was originally planned to carry through the end of 2025 in honor of the 20th anniversaries of The Poison and Ascendancy, respectively. However, following the European and UK legs earlier this year, the tour will now officially end this week in the United States.

Controversy over the sudden change in plans erupted this past weekend when Trivium bassist/vocalist Paolo Gregoletto publicly stated that the decision to pull the plug came solely from Bullet For My Valentine frontman Matt Tuck, despite prior planning already being underway. Gregoletto explained:

“Matt Tuck didn’t want to do it, after we had planned it, after stuff was already in the works — don’t know why. I think it would have been amazing. I think ‘The Poison’ is a great album. I think the two records pair very well together. And I think it would have been nice to give everyone around the world a chance to see the two together.”

He later added that Trivium will continue the tour solo in North America and hinted at “a lot of special surprises” to come.

The band’s official TikTok account doubled down in the comment section of a fan post, responding:

“He’s the sole decision maker of the band and he has no respect for us or our crew.”

In the days since, both bands have released statements to cool tensions and address the situation.

Earlier today, Bullet For My Valentine posted the following:

“Hey guys, Bullet here

As we head into the final shows of The Poisoned Ascendancy Tour, we want to thank everyone who’s come out to celebrate with us. The shows have been phenomenal and we’ve loved connecting with every single one of you.

Being in this band is the most important thing to the four of us. We’re incredibly grateful to have been given the chance to look back at a pair of life-changing albums for us & Trivium, who we have nothing but respect and admiration for.

To have a career spanning over 20+ years is an incredible achievement, and we understand all the dedication and sacrifice that comes with that. The celebration of both these albums has been a career highlight for us. There’s 5 shows left here in the US, and then we embark on a full month of summer festivals in June which we’re really looking forward to.

With that being said, the four of us collectively feel that the time is right for us to divert our full attention toward the next chapter of Bullet For My Valentine.

We can’t wait to get back in the studio later this summer and finish what we promise you is our best album to date. To go along with this, we are already starting to make plans for the 2026 & 2027 touring cycles, hitting every corner.

We are super excited to drop new music for you all. We value our fans above all else and are forever grateful for your support.

We’ll be back with all of you very soon.”

Meanwhile, Trivium frontman Matt Heafy took to social media with a video message aimed at de-escalating the backlash and reaffirming the bond between both bands:

“The tour has been amazing. It’s been truly wonderful. You’ve seen it in our faces, you’ve seen it in the photos and the videos… You know, there was an initial plan and plans changed. And you know us, we wanna be everywhere…

They’ve got other plans to do a record. So I respect that. I respect the fact that things change… let’s pull back on the negative stuff. Let’s go back to remembering what we all love, and that’s loving bands and loving music.”

Heafy continued, thanking crew members, fans, and even Bullet For My Valentine, calling the pairing “the best co-headlining pair that I’ve ever seen in my life.”

He concluded:

“Don’t let the press blow this stuff out of proportion… Let’s end this on a positive note. This was fucking amazing. 20 years. I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since ‘The Poison’. I wish them all the best in the world, can’t wait to buy the new record the day it comes out — theirs.”

As for Trivium, the band still plans to honor their previously discussed anniversary dates in South America and Australia, now without Bullet For My Valentine. A new round of North American ‘Ascendancy’ 20th anniversary shows is also reportedly in the works.
