A donation campaign is now underway to help American Head Charge vocalist Cameron Heacock secure an organized treatment plan as he continues to battle severe drug addiction and homelessness.
The effort follows a recent outreach campaign led by Holiday Kirk of The Nu Metal Agenda, which successfully resulted in direct contact with Heacock. Last month, Heacock appeared on the Soft White Underbelly podcast, where the visibly frail musician spoke openly about his ongoing struggles with addiction and mental health, revealing that he has been living on the streets of Los Angeles.
Throughout much of American Head Charge’s history, issues related to substance abuse and mental illness have loomed over the band, with Heacock’s struggles becoming increasingly public in the years leading up to the group’s collapse in 2017. Prior to that, he had accumulated multiple drug possession charges and was later arrested in April 2018 after being found with a van full of stolen musical instruments.
During the Soft White Underbelly interview, Heacock detailed how a long-running heroin addiction eventually escalated into fentanyl use. He also discussed the personal circumstances that led to his homelessness, while expressing a desire to reclaim his life, regain stability, and return to music.
Motivated by the interview, Kirk launched The Something Beautiful Project, named after lyrics from the 2001 American Head Charge song “Just So You Know.” Based in Los Angeles, Kirk began actively searching for Heacock with the goal of providing immediate assistance, survival resources, and ultimately a path toward sobriety. On December 22, Kirk confirmed that Heacock had been located.
In an update shared today, Kirk explained the next phase of the effort, which focuses on funding day-to-day needs while an organized treatment plan is assembled:
“While we work together to put together an organized treatment plan I am offering you the chance to contribute a small dollar donation while I buy Cam anything he needs for survival purposes. You can help us out by donating at this link, everything raised will be spent exclusively on Cam. I don’t have any way of guaranteeing you that but dammit you have to trust me. This is not something I would ever lie about, every penny that comes to me through that link will go to Cam.”
Donations are currently being accepted via Holiday Kirk’s Ko-fi page, with additional information about the initiative available through The Something Beautiful Project website.

One of my favorite upcoming bands in the early 00’s.
Came out swinging with an original sound and awesome stage presence.
It’s a shame to see somebody that I used to rip pages out of my hit parader and hang on the wall end up like this,
But at the same time, as I’ve grown up the amount of friends I’ve buried that went down the same path just means it’s not too late for him.

My first introduction to this ban was ozzfest 2001 in Mansfield MA. I was hooked. Hands down one of the best second stage bands of the day. Still listen pretty regularly. Hope he gets well. Who knows, maybe some more music when the time is right
