Candlemass Mark 40th Anniversary with New EP ‘Black Star’

Swedish doom metal legends Candlemass are commemorating four decades of crushing heaviness with a brand-new EP, Black Star. Scheduled for release on May 9th via Napalm Records, the four-track effort is available for pre-order now at lnk.to/CANDLEMASS-BlackStar.

The EP features two new original songs, “Black Star” and “Corridors of Chaos”, alongside covers of Black Sabbath’s “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” and Pentagram’s “Forever My Queen”.

Reflecting on the band’s milestone, bassist and founding member Leif Edling shared:

“Not all bands get to see their 40th birthday, and it certainly hasn’t been an easy ride. But many ups and downs later, we stand here as survivors—veterans even… a bit scarred perhaps? Still ready though to unleash another piece of doom-laden metal upon an unsuspecting world. You have to do something when you turn 40, right? Anyway, as always, it’s been fun recording some new stuff as well as covering a couple of old favorites.”
