CANNABIS CORPSE Announce Breakup After Nearly Two Decades

Long-running weed-themed death metal outfit Cannabis Corpse have officially called it quits. The band, which began as a side project for members of Municipal Waste, announced their breakup on October 16th, bringing an end to nearly twenty years of brutal, marijuana-fueled death metal.

In a brief statement shared across their social media channels, the group wrote:

“Cannabis Corpse has officially disbanded. Thanks to those of you who came out and supported. 2006–2025.”

Formed in 2006 by Philip “Landphil” Hall and Josh “HallHammer” Hall, Cannabis Corpse carved out a unique niche with their tongue-in-cheek take on classic death metal, parodying genre staples with pot-centric twists. Over the years, the band’s lineup featured contributions from members of GWAR, Six Feet Under, The Black Dahlia Murder, and more.

The group released several fan-favorite records through Season of Mist, including From Wisdom to Baked (2014) and Left Hand Pass (2017), blending tight musicianship with over-the-top humor that earned them cult status within the metal underground.

With their breakup now confirmed, Cannabis Corpse close the book on a nearly two-decade run that celebrated both death metal’s intensity and stoner culture’s irreverent spirit.
