Carcass have been forced to postpone their upcoming touring plans in Australia, New Zealand, China and India due to a family emergency involving drummer Daniel Wilding.
The British death metal veterans announced the news on September 2, explaining that Wilding is dealing with a “deeply upsetting family situation” and needs to remain with his family rather than spend an extended period of time overseas.
The band have not disclosed further details, asking fans to respect the privacy of everyone involved while they work toward rescheduling the affected dates.
“We’re incredibly sorry to announce that we have decided to reschedule our upcoming ‘Putrefying Down Under’ Australia / NZ tour along with our China and India dates.
Our drummer Dan is facing a deeply upsetting family situation, and his priority right now is being with his family. Out of respect for everyone involved, we won’t be sharing further details, but we hope our fans will understand that this is a situation where family has to come first and he simply cannot be so far away from home for so long.”
Carcass acknowledged that the postponement will come as a disappointment to fans who had been anticipating the shows, but noted that the decision was ultimately necessary under the circumstances.
“We know how much people have been looking forward to these shows, and postponing them is not a decision we have taken lightly. We are working on rescheduled dates and will share further information as soon as we can.”
For fans in India, there is one exception to the postponement. Bangalore Open Air will still take place as scheduled, with Carcass encouraging attendees to support the festival and the other bands on the bill.
“For our fans in India, Bangalore Open Air will still go ahead as scheduled, and we sincerely encourage everyone to attend the festival, support the other bands performing and be part of what will still be an incredible day.”
The band have asked fans for patience and understanding during what they describe as a “very difficult time” for the group and Wilding’s family.
All existing tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled performances, with new dates to be announced once arrangements have been finalized.
