Canadian melodic deathcore outfit Carcosa have unveiled the official music video for “1983,” their first release in over ten months. Mixed and mastered by Buster Odeholm (Vildhjarta, Humanity’s Last Breath, thrown), the track nods to the haunting philosophy of True Detective with a lyric video full of cryptic imagery.
“This is the LONGEST WAIT between Carcosa songs EVER! It proves that TIME IS A FLAT CIRCLE…” the band quipped in their release announcement, pointing out that the single’s debut coincides with the five‑year anniversary of their breakout “A Plague.”
Vocalist Johnny Ciardullo dug deeper into the song’s meaning, explaining that “1983” refers to his first car—a Chevy Monte Carlo he drove through high school and college before donating it to a breast cancer charity in honor of his survivor mother. “These songs are going to be chalked full of personal stories and meaning,” Ciardullo added, dedicating the track to friends from his hometown who helped shape those formative years.
