Post-rock outfit Caspian will return with their first new full-length in six years this fall.
The Beverly, MA-based band will release ‘Caspian’, their sixth studio album, on October 16th through Wax Bodega. The announcement arrives alongside the record’s sprawling nine-minute opening single, “Remain,” which is accompanied by a new short film directed by Luke Webster Brown and Elijah Sussman.
Recorded with producer Brett Romnes (Hot Mulligan, The Movielife), ‘Caspian’ finds the group revisiting some of the musical ideas that have defined their more than two-decade career while taking a more direct approach to their songwriting.
Guitarist/keyboardist Philip Jamieson explained:
“Our sixth full length album isn’t particularly uncharted sonic territory for the band but rather a process of self-discovery and coming to terms with the decisions we’ve made and the people we are.”
Jamieson continued by describing the record as a return to the band’s earliest musical instincts, emphasizing structural simplicity, melodic accessibility and emotional directness.
“Caspian revives musical pledges established over 22 years ago, forgotten somewhere along the way but rediscovered here, hopefully, in the form of structural simplicity, approachable melodic sensibilities and being ruthlessly direct as possible with our own emotions.”
He added that those qualities feel particularly important in the current cultural climate, ultimately summing up the album with a simple sentiment: “We did this record for the 5 of us.”
‘Caspian’ will feature the following six tracks:
01 – “Hiraeth”
02 – “Far Country”
03 – “Remain”
04 – “A Great Fire”
05 – “No One Left To Tell”
06 – “Waltz For The End”
Pre-orders are currently available through Wax Bodega.
The band will also support the album with a series of European dates alongside And So I Watch You From Afar, followed by two U.S. shows in December.
