Cemetery Skyline have unveiled a music video for their track “Behind The Lie.” The goth metal supergroup’s own drummer, Vesa Ranta, co-directed the clip alongside Petri Marttinen. On his dual role behind the camera, Ranta stated:
“As the band’s drummer and professional video director, juggling both roles is always a challenge. However, I found the experience rewarding, and I was eager to create a video for our band. I’m inspired by classic horror and crime films and wanted to infuse the ‘Behind The Lie’ video with that same visual narrative and atmosphere: Hitchcock meets goth with a touch of 80s and 90s vibes.
Working on this project was fantastic. Together with Petri Marttinen, I feel we captured the dark ambiance we aimed for. ‘Behind The Lie’ is one of my favorite tracks on the album; it grabs my attention and hits hard. The song’s mood is captivating and perfect for the upcoming autumn.”
Vocalist Mikael Stanne also provided insight into the song’s lyrics:
“This track explores the revelation that what was believed to be truth and honesty is, in fact, false. It delves into the themes of trust, loss, and moving on. The song is heavy and intense, yet has a celebratory aspect in letting go.”
Keyboardist Santeri Kallio added:
“After completing a few songs, I decided to write a straightforward gothic banger that works perfectly whether you’re driving, hanging out in a dark club, or even vacuuming. It’s infused with 90s crossover classics and echoes genuine gothic hits. Just let go and enjoy – true gothic style.”
The band’s debut album, Nordic Gothic, is set for release on October 11th via Century Media.
