A new video for Cemetery Skyline‘s latest track, “Torn Away,” has just dropped online. This goth metal supergroup is gearing up to release their debut album, Nordic Gothic, on October 11th through Century Media. Mikael Stanne (of Dark Tranquillity and The Halo Effect), who handles vocals for the band, shared his thoughts on the single:
“This song delves into the idea of willingly disconnecting from everything and everyone, and the inevitable consequences that follow. It was one of the earliest tracks we wrote, and it really set the tone for the entire album.”
The video features footage captured during the band’s live debut at the ‘John Smith Rock Festival’ in Laukaa, Finland, this past July. Reflecting on that experience, Stanne said:
“It was incredible. The festival basically pushed us into this, saying, ‘We want you!’ and we just went with it. The best part for me was finally sharing the stage with Markus, Santeri, Victor, and Vesa. We’ve all known each other for over 20 years, but this was the first time we ever performed together. I’ve guested with Insomnium a couple of times, but that’s it.
Seeing Vesa Ranta on drums was heartwarming; it made me so happy. Markus is an absolute legend, Victor is a longtime friend and neighbor, and watching Santeri go wild on stage—it meant the world to me. After the show, we could all just relax, celebrate, and truly enjoy the moment.”
