Mudvayne and HELLYEAH vocalist Chad Gray has canceled the next two dates of his 30 Years Of Madness Tour as he deals with vocal problems and illness.
Gray announced on October 4 that he would no longer perform in San Diego, CA, on October 5 or Santa Ana, CA, on October 6. The decision comes after his recent Aftershock Festival appearance, where he says he was already struggling vocally before becoming sick.
“Metal Kids,
If you saw the Aftershock show, you know I was having a tough one. I’ve been dealing with some deep vocal issues, and then that day I got sick and was completely on my ass.
I’m already dealing with enough shit right now, and I need to take some time to rest so I can protect my voice, my health, and hopefully keep this tour going.”
Gray apologized to fans in both cities while explaining that canceling the shows was ultimately the best option for his health and the remainder of the tour.
“I’m so incredibly sorry to my Metal family in San Diego and Santa Ana, but I’m going to have to cancel these shows. It absolutely breaks my heart. I don’t want to do this, but I truly believe it’s the better decision for all of you and for me.”
The vocalist added that he hopes to return to both markets and perform the canceled shows at a later date.
Gray is currently expecting the 30 Years Of Madness Tour to resume on October 10 in San Antonio, TX, with Butcher Babies and Devil’s Cut supporting.
Fans holding tickets for the canceled San Diego and Santa Ana dates should receive refunds automatically if they purchased through Ticketmaster. Gray also addressed meet-and-greet holders, offering to transfer those packages to the October 7 Las Vegas show or provide reimbursement if attendees cannot make the new date.
