Chad Kroeger Fronts Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” at Sammy Hagar’s Birthday Bash

Chad Kroeger, vocalist and guitarist for diamond-certified Canadian rockers Nickelback, took the stage this past Monday, October 13th, to perform a live cover of Metallica’s “Enter Sandman.” The performance was part of a special concert series at Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, celebrating Sammy Hagar’s 78th birthday.

Kroeger kicked things off on drums with a Van Halen snippet before launching into the 9x multi-platinum 1991 Metallica hit. He was joined on stage by guitarist Vic Johnson, drummer Kenny Aronoff, and ex-Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony. Hagar is also expected to guest on a new Nickelback track slated for the band’s upcoming eleventh studio album.

The birthday set also featured Alice In Chains’ vocalist/guitarist Jerry Cantrell joining for a rendition of “Rooster,” while Anthrax frontman Joey Belladonna performed Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love.”
