Chino Moreno Shares Excitement for Deftones’ Upcoming Album

Deftones will launch their U.S. headlining tour tomorrow, 02/25, with their highly anticipated tenth studio album not far behind. The Sacramento-based alternative metal icons recorded the upcoming effort throughout the first half of 2024 with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Alice In Chains, Foo Fighters).

Speaking with Billboard Español in December, frontman Chino Moreno confirmed that the record will arrive in 2025:

“So the plan is, obviously, to have a record sometime around that time [during the tour.] It’s getting very close to being ready, so yeah, we’re excited.”

In the same interview, Moreno and his Crosses bandmate Shaun Lopez discussed the future of their collaborative project, noting that while Deftones will take priority, Crosses won’t be shelved indefinitely. Lopez added:

“I don’t know how soon it’ll be, but we definitely want to work on more music. We enjoy making it and yeah, I just would like to thank everybody for showing interest in our project.”

Moreno also shared his hopes of bringing the annual Día de los Deftones festival to Mexico in the future:

“We talked about it a lot recently, so it’s definitely in discussions to do so. We would love to do! I mean, I can’t promise, but, you know, it’s been growing really great.”
