Actress Chloë Sevigny Responds To Backlash Over Emmy Afterparty Photo With Marilyn Manson

Chloë Sevigny, fresh off her recent Emmy nomination, has issued an apology after a photo surfaced of her posing with Marilyn Manson and filmmaker Jonas Åkerlund following the Prime Time Emmy Awards on September 14th.

Sevigny initially shared the images to her Instagram stories (which can be seen below), but quickly faced backlash from followers given the numerous allegations of sexual misconduct against Manson (real name Brian Hugh Warner).

Responding directly to a comment, Sevigny admitted the photo was a mistake, writing:

“I’m truly sorry – you’re absolutely right. We unexpectedly ran into MM and Jonas in the lobby of a hotel. We’re both fans of Jonas as both a musician and a filmmaker, and in the moment, I wasn’t thinking clearly. I’d had too much to drink and didn’t consider how inappropriate or hurtful it might be to be photographed with MM. I deeply regret the lapse in judgement.”

Manson has faced multiple accusations over the past several years, including claims of abuse from his former fiancée Evan Rachel Wood. While some lawsuits have been dismissed, others have been settled out of court. In 2024, Warner dropped his defamation suit against Wood after being ordered to pay nearly $327,000 in her legal fees.

In addition, several other legal battles have unfolded in recent years. In 2022, a lawsuit against Warner was dismissed due to the statute of limitations. A case brought forward by his former personal assistant Ashley Walters, alleging sexual assault and battery between 2010 and 2011, was also thrown out. Another suit filed by ex-partner Ashley Morgan Smithline in 2023 was dismissed when she failed to secure new legal representation. Smithline later recanted her claims, stating she had been “manipulated” into making them by Wood.

That same year, Warner reached out-of-court settlements with two women: Esme Bianco (Game Of Thrones), who accused him of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, and a Jane Doe later identified as Bianca Allaine Kyne, who alleged he raped her in 2011.

These accusations were also explored in the Channel 4 documentary Unmasked, which aired in the UK earlier this year and featured interviews with both Wood and Kyne. In June, a planned Marilyn Manson concert in Brighton was canceled after a complaint from the head of the Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole (BCP) Council.
