Jami Morgan, frontman of Code Orange, recently appeared on the ‘Nik Nocturnal Podcast’ to provide a long-awaited update on the band’s current status. With rumors swirling due to their silence, side projects, and absence from the touring circuit, Morgan confirmed what many had suspected — Code Orange are officially on hiatus.
He stated:
“Code Orange is on the shelf, and I think it’s there for a good reason, for many reasons. You can put two, two and four together, and you’ll probably come to the answer.”
Over the past year, various members of Code Orange have shifted focus: Morgan and Eric “Shade” Balderose launched their new project NOWHERE2RUN, while Reba Meyers has been playing guitar live for Marilyn Manson and recently began her solo career. Meanwhile, guitarist Dominic Landolina has been dealing with a serious genetic condition that affected his hand, neck, and foot — ultimately forcing the cancellation of the band’s initial tour behind their latest record, The Above.
He said:
“His fingers were this big, I was really scared for him. He’s got it under control now, for sure, which is amazing.”
Released in 2023, The Above now feels like a powerful final statement — at least for the time being. Morgan reflected:
“It kind of says everything that I wanted to say. It’s almost like it feels a little bit like a death record in some ways, but in like a beautiful way for me.”
As for the future, Morgan left the door cracked open but was blunt in explaining why the band stepped back.
“If it was right, and if things were right, and things were happening the right way, then we would have did it. But I felt that they weren’t, for many reasons, and so did others. And you know, we said, ‘F* that. That’s not how we operate.’”
He added:
“There was so much art and love put into the band, dude, and so much thought… I still hundred percent believe it’s very forward-thinking, and I think it always kind of was. And I’m very proud of that.”
For now, Code Orange remains on pause — no live shows, no upcoming plans, and no guarantees. But as Morgan made clear, the impact of their work still echoes, and maybe in time, the moment will be right to rise again.
