Cold Slither, the fictional metal band first introduced in a 1985 episode of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, is back—with a second new single and a full rollout of real-world content in celebration of the episode’s 40th anniversary.
Originally formed by Zartan and the Dreadnoks within the show’s storyline, the villainous band has now crossed into reality with a debut album in the works. The record is being helmed by producer Gus Ríos (Gruesome, ex-Malevolent Creation), and their latest track “Knock ‘Em Dread” is now streaming with an animated video crafted by Costin Chioreanu.
Unlike their original animated debut, this time around the band isn’t using subliminal messaging to brainwash youth into joining Cobra—just riffs and nostalgia-fueled mayhem.
The Cold Slither resurgence also includes a limited-edition action figure set coming to San Diego Comic-Con, a one-shot comic, and several other planned cross-media releases tied into the franchise’s expanded universe.
