Colepitz have unveiled a new lyric video for “Washed In Red”, giving fans another preview of the band’s long-awaited return to the full-length album format.
The song arrives roughly a month before the release of ‘The Time Between’, which will mark Colepitz’s first full-length record in 16 years. The album is scheduled for an October 23rd release through High River Records.
According to vocalist Rob Korhonen, the roots of “Washed In Red” stretch back more than two decades, originating in Boston during the early 2000s. Korhonen co-wrote the song with Mark Marenick, but the track remained unreleased before being revisited and reworked for the new album.
“‘Washed In Red”s origin story is Boston in the early 2000’s. Mark Marenick and I co-wrote it and felt it never got its due. Ray and Shane took it apart and put it back together, heavier and meaner. It’s a straightforward horror song: a saw, the boiler room at 2 a.m. Every line darkly cuts two ways. The end of the world doesn’t always come for everyone at once. Sometimes it’s one house with the lights off.”
The Ray referenced by Korhonen is guitarist Ray Suhy, who is also known for his work with Six Feet Under, while Shane Kinney handles drums for Colepitz.
The band took a hands-on approach to ‘The Time Between’, self-producing the record before bringing in producer and mixer Sky van Hoff, whose credits include Sleep Token and Enslaved, to handle the mixing.
