Crowbar are preparing to document a hometown performance for a future live album release this summer.
Frontman Kirk Windstein revealed on social media that the veteran sludge metal outfit will record and film a special free show on July 17 at Southport Music Hall in New Orleans, Louisiana. The footage and audio captured during the concert are expected to be used for an upcoming live release.
The announcement arrives during a surprising late-career surge in popularity for the influential band. Over the last year, Crowbar’s music has spread rapidly across social media thanks to memes, workout edits, and viral clips — particularly within online bodybuilding and gym communities.
That renewed attention helped push the band past 1 million monthly Spotify listeners earlier this year, introducing a new generation of listeners to the group’s sludge metal catalog nearly four decades into their career.
Additional details regarding the planned live album have not yet been announced.
