Cult Of Luna have released another expansive preview of their forthcoming album ‘In The Shadow Of Your Shadow’ with the arrival of the eight-minute track “The Rift.”
The new song is accompanied by a visualizer and explores the isolation of the human experience, the desire to find belonging and the divisions that can emerge when people become entrenched in collective beliefs.
Guitarist/vocalist Johannes Persson offered a detailed look at the ideas behind the track:
“‘The Rift’ is about the loneliness of the human experience and the urgent need to belong, to seek refuge in the collective.”
Persson describes the song as an examination of how shared beliefs can provide a sense of identity while simultaneously defining who exists outside the group. He also points to the increasingly polarized nature of modern life, where certainty can become reinforced inside ideological echo chambers.
‘In The Shadow Of Your Shadow’ is scheduled for release on November 6 through the band’s own RED CRK Recordings.
Cult Of Luna will begin supporting the album with a performance at Damnation Festival in Manchester before embarking on a European run in early 2027 with BRUIT ≤ and Youth Code.
