Current Comfort have unveiled their latest single, “Live For Leaving,” a track centered on emotional closure, personal power, and the complicated aftermath of unresolved conflict.
The new song explores the mindset of someone who repeatedly walks away from situations — whether relationships, confrontations, or personal struggles — as a means of reclaiming control. According to the band, the concept stemmed from a simple phrase that quickly evolved into a deeper reflection on emotional fallout and acceptance.
Discussing the meaning behind the track, the band shared:
“The term ‘Live For Leaving’ is simply that, someone that lives for leaving either a situation, a person, or a confrontation with no regards for others in an attempt to take back power they’ve either lost or are in the process of losing.”
The phrase itself originated from a moment of inspiration sparked by online culture and wordplay.
“Thought of it when I saw a post say ‘I live for x’ and I loved the alliteration.”
While the song examines behavior that can come across as intentionally hurtful, it also shifts perspective inward, addressing the emotional confusion felt by those left searching for answers.
“Whether it is intentionally hurtful or a defensive move, the song then takes a step further by including my perspective of feeling blindsided, but accepting that I can’t dwell on things I may never get an answer to for too long.”
Ultimately, “Live For Leaving” embraces the uncomfortable reality that closure isn’t always guaranteed.
“Sometimes in life we are just forced to draw our own conclusions when things happen, doesn’t make it hurt any less, but trying to take it for what it is.”
