Current Comfort Explore The Fallout Of Setting Boundaries On New Single “Obvious”

Austin, TX post-hardcore outfit Current Comfort have returned with a new single titled “Obvious.” The track finds the band continuing their creative partnership with producer Randy Leboeuf, who handled production, engineering, mixing, and mastering duties.

Sonically, “Obvious” leans into the band’s emotionally charged approach, pairing dynamic post-hardcore textures with introspective lyricism centered on personal growth and difficult interpersonal realities.

Frontman Miles McMillan Jr. explained that the song reflects the complicated aftermath of establishing boundaries within relationships — and the friendships that sometimes don’t survive that process.

“Obvious is a song about finally setting boundaries with others and seeing friendships not survive that process. I’ve lost a few friends that I let say and do whatever they want and just kind of took it because when I mention wanting that to stop, it goes south fast. Trying not to place the blame entirely on the other person, I realize that there were plenty of times that I wanted to say something but for whatever reason, I didn’t, which is on me. That type of foundation for a relationship isn’t meant to last, so it’s obvious that dragging it out is only making things worse. Neither person really knows how to talk to each other at that point, so it’s best to just end it.”
