Darkest Hour have unveiled a new music video for “Warrior,” offering another preview of their forthcoming album ‘Suffer Divine’.
The track serves as the second single from the record, which is set for release on October 30. “Warrior” is also the second of four videos Darkest Hour filmed with director Thomas Mignone, whose previous credits include work with Mudvayne and Slipknot.
Guitarist Mike Schleibaum describes the song as a showcase for the band’s melodic death metal influences while incorporating a more modern approach.
“This song showcases our melodic death metal tendencies with a bit of a modern twist. It draws you deep into a fresh yet familiar DH sound.”
Schleibaum also praised the contributions of guitarist Nico, drummer Travis, bassist Deal and vocalist John Henry, adding that the new album balances rage, technicality and focused aggression.
Henry explained that “Warrior” takes a more inward approach lyrically, focusing on the battles people face within themselves.
“The internal struggle is often the most important battle we ever fight. This song touches on the idea of gaining control of your thoughts, actions, and purpose.”
The accompanying video draws inspiration from the film Raging Bull and the music video for “Mama Said Knock You Out,” according to Schleibaum.
Darkest Hour will also support ‘Suffer Divine’ with an extensive run of North American, European and UK dates.
