    DISTURBED’s David Draiman Responds to John Cusack’s Criticism Over Artillery Shell Controversy

    Disturbed frontman David Draiman fired back at actor and political activist John Cusack on social media this week after Cusack criticized him for his past actions involving an Israel Defense Force artillery shell.

    The exchange began when a user on X (formerly Twitter) called for Disturbed’s concert in Dublin, Ireland — scheduled for tonight, October 22nd — to be canceled. The user referenced Draiman’s signing of an artillery shell in 2024, on which he wrote “F*ck Hamas.” The photo of that moment has continued to circulate online, sparking ongoing debate and controversy.

    Critics have accused Draiman of warmongering and supporting violence amid the Israel–Gaza conflict, while others have defended his stance as an expression of solidarity with Israel. The controversy even led to the cancelation of Disturbed’s Brussels show earlier this month after local authorities cited potential security risks tied to possible protests.

    Over the weekend, one X user posted the image of Draiman signing the shell, writing:

    “If there was someone shot in the head tonight in Cork City and my signature was found on the bullet, would you give me a gig @mcd_productions????
    Ye will forever be a disgrace to this country if ye go ahead with this David Drainman gig next Wednesday in Dublin.”

    Cusack reshared that post on October 20th, adding:

    “Anyone who signs a bomb is psychotic.”

    Draiman swiftly responded, directing his comments at Cusack:

    “Hello @johncusack, my old friend.
    It isn’t psychotic to defend oneself from a genocidal death cult, hell bent on slaughtering you.
    What’s psychotic, is you defending that genocidal, Jew hating death cult, the way you have for years.
    You want psychotic? Look in the mirror.”

      I find it weird that anyone famous would sign artillery shells for any reason. Citing that it’s due to a genocide against Isreal while your own government blows up a hospital with your own people inside feels disingenuous at best. Sure you can be against Hamas, and yeah you can voice that. But pretending it’s because you personally feel threatened by Hamas – a group that is dwarfed by your own military killing its people in pursuit is like Batman being worried about Two Face, so he blows up Gotham General because Two Face might be in there, and then posting it to youe socials? It makes no sense. You aren’t combating irrational hatred, you are funneling more into it you bald headed fraud.

        Dylan Crossman Israel’s war is against Hamas: Israel is not seeking to destroy the Palestinian people or the Palestinian population of Gaza, which is what would need to happen in order to correctly apply the term “genocide.” Israel’s leaders have repeatedly asserted that their campaign in Gaza is solely against the terrorist organization Hamas. In fact, this type of military campaign is the exact opposite of reflecting an attempt to eliminate the Palestinian population.

          Nathan Wood Palestine existed long before ancient Israel. It was the Latin and Greek name for the land of the Phillistines. Before the land of the Phillistines spoke Hebrew, it spoke Aramaic. Interestingly, none of that excuses genocide of a people that have lived there for over a thousand years. Modern day “Israelis” have less genetic ancestors of ancient Israelites than the Palestinians do. They came from Eastern Europe. This is the reason why DNA tests are illegal in “Israel”.
