Dead Icarus is set to release their debut album, ZEALOT, on Halloween (October 31st) through MNRK. The band features former Atreyu vocalist Alex Varkatzas, along with Enterprise Earth guitarist Gabe Mangold and Whitechapel drummer Brandon Zackey.
The second single from the album, “Bearing Burdens And Saving Skin”, comes with a music video directed by David Brodsky (known for working with The Black Dahlia Murder and Cattle Decapitation). The video was filmed in a cemetery inside a haunted house and serves as a preview of more videos to come.
Varkatzas shared his excitement, stating:
“I couldn’t be more thrilled to release our debut album ZEALOT. To be a ‘zealot’ is to be fanatically dedicated to your beliefs, and a lot of emotion and energy went into making this record. I pushed myself vocally and tried new approaches to match the intensity of the songs.
We’re starting with ‘Bearing Burdens and Saving Skin’, a fast, chaotic track that lyrically tackles dishonesty and revenge. The accompanying video is dark and intense, setting the stage for the videos we have in store. This is just the beginning…”
